Starting question on user stream and apps

Out of an install of Mod X can I allow an user A on my Mod X site to friend / follow user B, and can they have their activity streams shown in their personal profile ?

Can users (visitors to my site) have and customize their own blogs or add their own Social Apps/Gadgets?

All of that is possible in theory, but you’ll have a lot of coding to do... it won’t work ’out of the box’ like that (nor will any cms, really).

MODx is a CMS not a social network you want somthing like http://www.elgg.org/ or http://mahara.org/ or http://lovdbyless.com/ once played around with elgg but never built a final project from it.

As lucas says MODx could do what you say but will take a lot of work and effort where as something designed for Social Networking would be a lot quicker.
