if Wayfinder is empty display some default text

I have a page with a wayfinder which displays all child pages. If there are no child pages I want to output some default text like

no articles found

Anyone got any idea how I can do that

I just created a snippet to do something like this:

http://modxcms.com/hasChildren-0.1-1456.html

I need to achieve the same sort of thing..either a submenu or the most recent blog entry depending on whether children are available.
