Is it possible to configure wayfinder to specify a link target when building a menu? I have searched for this and I figured it would be something simple, but I am getting nothing relevant on the forums or web.

Yes you can specify a link target by adding it to the link attibutes field of each folder/document
The value inserted into the link attributes field will be outputted into the template with the placeholder [+wf.attributes+]
