Do you mean the arrows that show up on hover? The down arrows indicated that there is a dropdown. When you click on those links it will take you to the first child and then the accordian shows up.

Umm.. What is it actually that you want to achieve? If you just want a normal html menu like you have now, where do you need the javascript? Please don’t take this the wrong way, but do you actually know what the ’accordian’ effect refers to, or am I just not getting something..?

Yes, I know what the accordian effect refers to, and I am aware that this isn’t it. That’s what I have been trying to say! smiley
No, I don’t take it the wrong way because I thought I was just going crazy, now I’m just convinced that I have done something wrong. I cannot get the thing to achieve the accordian effect, no matter what I do.

The way I had it working originally was a perfect accordian but then the client decided that he wanted the links in the category to be visible on all the pages of that category, ie:
        category 1
        category 2
        - page 1
        - page 2
        - page 3
        category 3
so that when you were on page 1, page 2, or page 3 the entire category 2 panel would be open all the time, without having to "manually" open it.

That was where the trouble started, because with the accordian effect it defaults to opening the first category on page change or refresh, rather than leaving the last selected category open.

I suppose if it at least works like a regular menu and the client is happy with it then I am just going to have to save it for another day, because I need to get this site up by Monday.
        • Would it be possible to make use of the "here" or "active" class in the parent menu item to have the javascript have its children open?
