I’m trying to structure a new MODx site like a science or math textbook. Each page would be included in a Chapter Heading parent in the site tree. I’d like to automatically generate the TOC numbers in Wayfinder as shown below (left). I’d also like to auto generate Figure, Equation, and Illustration tags based on the page where it appears as shown to the right.
1. Chapter Parent
1.1 Child Page Fig. 1.1.1, 1.1.2, ... Eq. 1.1.1, 1.1.2, ...
1.2 Child Page
2. Chapter Parent
2.1 Child Page
2.2 Child Page Fig. 2.2.1, 2.2.2, ... Eq. 2.2.1, 2.2.2, ...
So I’m hoping to get some feedback here about the easy way to do this, or if it is fairly difficult, some advice on how to pitch this to a MODx developer for a commercial solution. Thanks.
If the php is simple I can understand it, e.g., inserting the [*menuindex*] built in templage variable in the chunk to format the Wayfinder call. But I don’t know the details or how to do it for the parent menuindex.
