I’m using Modx to rebuild an existing website, so I need to maintain the exact folder and file naming structure.

I’ve got wayfinder installed and friendly urls working and removed the file extensions.

However obviously Modx doesn’t do "folders" which is somewhat problematic in itself, but also when I add documents to a container the container name is not appearing in the url.

IE: What I want to recreate is the existing url: .../about_acwa/organisational_profile

and what I get is .../organisational_profile

even though I have created the about_acwa container and have organisational_profile inside it.

So why isn’t it appearing in the url?

Is there some setting in wayfinder of modx that I have to enable?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Did you set the "Use Friendly Alias Paths" in the site configuration?

        Doh!!

        OK, that now works.

But while we’re on the subject is there anyway to create a container just as a folder without it appearing as a page yet still appear in the menu?

EG I n the above example about_acwa is the container/folder and that name is what I want to (and does currently appear) appear in the top level of the wayfinder menu.

organisational profile is the default page for that folder and in the second level menu.

At the moment when you click on about acwa you get a blank page.

What I need is when they click on about acwa they get aboutacwa/organisational profile instead of the blank page.

As I said I’m replicating an existing site, so there are a few quirks.

          OK,

I’ve Just found first child redirect, that looks promising.

I’ll try that and see how it works.

          • Or if you don’t want those folders to be links at all...
            &categoryFoldersTpl

If defined, then this template will define the output for rows that (a) are parents, and that (b) have no associated document template or (c) have their link attributes fields set to rel="category".

This is useful because sometimes web designers use "empty" parents to provide category header information for a set of subsidiary pages, and you don’t want active links to these header pages that have no web page template.

              which is exactly my situation.

              Thanks again.
