Wow. Thanks for the info..... but that’s one helluva ’gotcha’ I’ve been up and down the docs for Login/Register & found no indication that it was dependent on FormIt ~ or it’s well hidden. Would have saved me days.... Who do we poke about getting the login/register docs updated? a "requirements" or "dependencies" section would be appropriate?

I’ll let you know how things turn out [Formit isn’t even installed!]

    -thanks

AFAIK, Login’s Register snippet uses the same method. This is from the doc page for Register:
      [[!Register?
        &validate=`boxes:equalTo=^123^`
        &customValidators=`equalTo`
      ]]

I’m not sure if the UpdateProfile snippet does validation or not. You may have to use a postHook.

Hm that’s where I stared out with this thread - looking for validation on the update profile form ..... I’m pretty sure it was validating at one point.
I suppose it was wrong of me to assume that since profile was part of the login package that it would support the same validation methods as other parts of the package.

I’ll test it and find out for sure.

        ***UPDATE***
I just rolled back all the profile stuff to it’s defaults, updated to the latest version [1.6.1] & started testing.
        - it seems to support some validation, both inline & with the &validation parameter
        - it does not appear to be supporting the &customValidators parameter - I still get the error:

[2011-05-28 14:23:25] (ERROR @ /index.php) [Login] Validator "VALIDATORNAME" for field "FIELDNAME" was not specified in the customValidators property.

now no matter what I do I get the error message showing as "lgnErrTpl" ~ the name of the default error template....!
        argh.

ya - that’s me. It might technically be a feature request since looking at the profile snippet, I don’t think the custom validation thing is supposed to work there - I dunno. I’ll have to work around it for now.

I did manage to get the register form working properly with a mix of preHooks & custom validation [including some very cool mailchimp api integration!!] ... and the deadline is already past, so I gotta move on. sad

            -thanks again
