    Hi,

    I just set up sitemap, but I´m having a problem with the date. The sitemap showing my blog/news posts, made using Newspublisher, ends up looking like this in my sitemap.xml:

    <url>
    <loc>http://christerwulff.com/article-1213186749.html</loc>
    <lastmod>1969-12-31</lastmod>
    </url>
    </urlset>

    The date is obviously completly wrong.

    I searched and found one other person with the same problem earlier in this thread but no solution was posted. I was wondering if anybody knows what´s going on, and how to fix it?

      I dunno what causes that (maybe it’s duplicating content?), but you need to "reset" the Last Modified date. I like to use phpMyAdmin to do it, personally.

        Hi,

        I have created a sitemap for a site which seems to work and lists all the pages fine in the browser.

        <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
        - <urlset xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9 http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9/sitemap.xsd" xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
        - <url>
        <loc>http://www.domain.co.uk/contactus.html</loc>
        <lastmod>2008-03-18</lastmod>
        </url>
        - <url>
        <loc>http://www.domain.co.uk/casestudies.html</loc>
        <lastmod>2008-03-18</lastmod>
        </url>
        - <url>
        <loc>http://www.domain.co.uk/instock.html</loc>
        <lastmod>2008-04-28</lastmod>
        </url>
        - <url>
        <loc>http://www.domain.co.uk/aboutus.html</loc>
        <lastmod>2008-02-29</lastmod>
        </url>
        - <url>
        <loc>http://www.domain.co.uk/index.html</loc>
        <lastmod>2008-04-25</lastmod>
        </url>
        </urlset>

        I have submitted to Google in Webmaster tools but I get the following error.

        Sitemap errors and warnings
        Line Status Details
        Details - Network unreachable: Network unreachable
        We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit. HTTP Error:

        Has anyone any suggestions of what might be wrong and how I can fix?

        Checking again today I still have the same error. I have done a little more investigation into Googles help and it says

        Network unreachable We encountered a network error when we tried to access the page.

        This can happen when Googlebot encounters a time-out or other network related issue when requesting a file from your site, and thus is forced to abandon the request. This can be caused by one or more of the following:

        * Excessive page load times due to dynamic pages taking too long to respond
        * Excessive page load times due to a site’s hosting server being down, overloaded, or misconfigured
        * The hosting server is blocking Google’s web crawler
        * A DNS configuration issue.

        The sitemap appears fine in the broswers when you view it e.e. www.domain.com/sitemap.xml.

        Any advice? - I have managed to fix this by looking atsome of the other forum messages - it was the search module.

          I have fixed this now. The reason for this problem is that the editedon field is not set in the database when I create pages with NewsPublisher, so it defaults to 0 which Sitemap naturally reads as 1969. I´m not sure if editedon is ment to be set on document creation or not, but Newspublisher does not do it.

          So I´ve modified the Sitemap snipet to use the createdon date if editedon equals 0. This seems to work fine for my needs.

            It was me who asked about that strange date 1969, I actually removed the whole <lastmod>1969-12-31</lastmod> and use changefreq instead, I’ve had no errors in google and its still trawling the links.

              I think that NewsPublisher is obsolete now...
              maybe using Ditto will not create this problem.

                Sitemap is appending the .html on the end of the url like: http://www.domain.com/sitemap.xml.html any reason for that?

                  I’m having a similar problem: the sitemap.xml (placed in the root of site structure, uncached, blank document template) file is working fine, I’m able to see it in "mydomain.com/sitemap.xml" ..

                  The problem is that It’s been a couple of weeks since I submitted it to Google and it has said that there are 31 url submitted, none indexed, and warnings present.. I’ve visited all the links listed on the sitemap.xml file and they’re fine.

                  URLs not accessible
                  When we tested a sample of the URLs from your Sitemap, we found that some URLs were not accessible to Googlebot due to an HTTP status error. All accessible URLs will still be submitted
                  It says "404 error (not found)"
                  Can someone give me some advice?

                    Nice snippet but I have a problem with it - it can’t ’see through’ unpublished docs, which I need it to do.

                    I use unpublished ’container’ pages to hold groups of (published) pages - just a useful way of organising. SiteMap can’t see the published pages because it gives up at the higher-level container page. I presume this is because it’s using $modx->getActiveChildren() (which I believe is deprecated). Is there another method it could use to retrieve pages that would allow it to see through unpublished ones? (Ditto, as we know, has this capability).

                      Google says one doc, named untitled-document, can’t be found.
                      I expect you renamed or deleted it since you generated the sitemap!
