    Hi, I have a problem.

I use [[Breadcrumbs]] and its working fine, however on deeper pages the phrase/link "Home" shows twice in breadcrumb.

I am using friendly alias path on.
Wayfinder is definitely a possible alternative. It didn’t exist when Breadcrumbs was written.

The problem you describe usually happens when the structure of the site looks something like:

    Home
    - First area
    - Second area
    - - Page 2.1
    - - Page 2.2
    etc.

So if you’re on Page 2.2 you’d expect:
    Home > Second area > Page 2.2
You get this without having to specify to turn the home crumb on - because it is already included in the path back to root. However some structures look like this:

    Home
    First area
    Second area
    - Page 2.1
    - Page 2.2
    etc.

So being on Page 2.2 would show a path back to root:
    Second Area > Page 2.2
This leaves out the "Home" page because it’s not in the path back to the root level. In this case, you would specify the addition of the home link which is merely adding on an arbitrary page NOT necessarily in the path already.

But without knowing how your site is set up, I’m not really sure if this applies to you. But I’ve seen this come up a couple times and some explanation usually helps. Hope that helps you!

The breadcrumbs snippet has worked great for me on several sites but I am having a problem on my latest one. Basically, the snippet gets the breadcrumb link wrong when I use weblinks in my document structure. Here is how I’ve organized my pages:

      Home
      Category1
Product1 Weblink to Overview page (doc id=100)
      Overview Page
      Specifications page
      FAQ
      Category2
Product2 Weblink to Overview page (doc id=200)
      Overview Page
      Specifications page
      FAQ
      etc.

So, when I click the Products1 link in the "Home>Category1>Products1>Overview Page" breadcrumb trail, it sends me to a URL like "/Category1/100.html" which, of course does not exist. The page that it references to is actually a weblink so that should automatically forward on to the page that it’s set for. But it doesn’t .

Does Breadcrumbs have trouble working with Weblinks? This seems odd because I used them much the same way in an older site and there was no problem.

I am using Breadcrumbs 1.0.1 and ModX 9.6.3. On each page I have a base reference reference in the head section <base href="http://www.mysite.com" /> I also have user friendly URLS turned on.

      Thanks!

Sorry, I made a mistake in describing my problem in my previous post. This is how it should read:

When I click the Products1 link in the "Home>Category1>Products1>Overview Page" breadcrumb trail, it sends me to a URL like "/Category1/Products1/Category1/Products1/100.html". As you notice, the URL repeats the Category1 and Product1 folders in the URL which of course leads to a page which does not exist. The page that the breadcrumb references to is actually a weblink so that should automatically forward on to the page that it’s set for (in this case, back to the Overview page). But it doesn’t and instead it creates a new URL that doesn’t work.

        Any suggestions? Thanks!

I "think" I may have found what the problem is although I have no idea how to fix it. The breadcrumbs snippet works great if you use weblinks for folders but only if the weblink containers are at the root level. In this case, when you click on the breadcrumb link that points to the weblink container, the user is routed to wherever the weblink points to (which is correct).

However, as soon as the containing weblinks are one or more levels from the root, when you click on a breadcrumb link that points to the weblink folder, users are directed to the URL of the weblink rather than to where the weblink points to. And this results in a 404 page.

I am hoping there is some solution out there otherwise I will need to reorganize my site to something different. Or maybe Wayfinder can do this better?

          Thanks

            Hi

I’m using &showCrumbsAtHome=`1` but I want it to display: "Home" on the start_page instead of "Home > Home"

I tried the Wayfinder solution described in the Wiki but I had the same problem and I didn’t like some other behavior.

Therefore here is my modification on line 272/273 (Version: 1.0.1)

// Decide if current page is to be a crumb
            if ( $showCurrentCrumb && $modx->documentObject['id'] != $homeId )

            Works now!

                I get:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_IF, expecting T_STRING or T_VARIABLE or ’$’ in /home2/gateoper/public_html/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php(770) : eval()’d code on line 257

I have a tree structure that look like this:

                  |- Hot Picks
                  |- w1
                  |- Product 1

’w1’ is unpublished and used for organisation purposes. The problem Im having is that breadcrumbs is stopping at the unpublished folder. So when I go to product 1 I get this in my breadcrumbs navigation:

                  Home >> Product 1

                  instead of:

                  Home >> Hot Picks >> Product 1

Is there anyway to get round this problem?

                  Thanks

EDIT: Once I clicked ’show in menu’ for hot picks it also showed in Breadcrumbs smiley

                    Hi there,

I hope this is still active...

I’m using breadcrumbs at the moment and it is working fine but I want some different functionality I couldn’t find in the documentation.

I have certain pages that I want to include in the breadcrumbs but they should NOT be a link. I only found a way to exclude them by ID but is there a way to include the page but exclude their link?

Thanks in advance for your help.
