SimpleSearch Faceted Results ~ User Profiles

Hi;

I’m trying to work through the SimpleSearch faceted results example and am running into an issue - the ’people results’ only seem to appear if there are results found for the search in the document resources... i.e. If I search for a username "sean" it won’t be found unless the term "sean" appears on some page in the site. If I place "sean" somewhere in some site copy - then I get the extra "people" search result!

Anyone know what’s going on here?
- do user profiles need to be published as ’content’ somehow?
- is there some way to get simplesearch to ’skip’ the resource search part and just search in the user profiles?

anyone have nay thoughts on this? anyone even tried the example & can verify that this is what is happening??
