Hello,

I have just installed this sample site. I can add new Blog entry in the back-end, and add comments in the front end.

But, I cannot log in to the sample site from the form at the right hand side using the ID of "Default Admin User" and a new user I created in the back-end.
Please help me. Thank you!

Let’s face it: Log-in functionality in MODx is in fact absent. Example site gives us only Log-in form (without any possibility of registration) and even that scanty functionality does not work for users registered through manager interface. So if developers by themselves can not make Log-in functionality to work, what can be said about a common user who just wants to create a site on MODx?

It’s really a pity, because MODx has numerous advantages under other CMS’, but till it does not start work properly at least in sample version, it will not obtain new admirers, because all people will choose traditional systems like Joomla or Drupal which have simple and plain "must have" functionality (like user management, commenting, etc) although MODx obviously is more flexible and possesses more convenient manager interface. But nobody cares about additional advantages if "must have" functions do not work at all, like we can witness in example of Log-In package...

Unlike Drupal or Joomla, MODx is not a CMS, but a CMF. So it’s more up to you, to use the framework and build something on top of it.

I’ve made my choice and as I said previously MODx without any doubt is much more advantageous, I want to be clear from this point of view. But simultaneously I just wonder where should we search for WORKING examples?... Are the docs in rtfm OK and can we follow them instead of modxss?

They’re coming, but no ETA yet. A more robust sample site is a priority for Revo (along with an update to the one on Evo).

I’ve not had trouble setting up user login with the Login package at all.. (didn’t use a register form yet tho, but if the rest seems to work fine....)

One of the key parts of learning is stepping outside of your comfort box (the sample login), so I’d suggest you try the Login package The documentation for it is also quite extended on the RTFM, so you’re not alone.

Well, actually I at first installed "empty" Revo and quite successively added to it different components such as comments, star rating, etc. But when I stumbled upon Login component I got scared of it’s volume (upon reading manuals) and decided to try sample system ’cause it, as it was said, already had implemented Login component. Unfortunately, it had not.

But of course I’ll try to do my best with single Login extension. Frankly speaking, I would be satisfied with very simple registration that even needs not any e-mail confirmation or something. I just need a mechanism which could allow people to register on the site and comment the articles, and I do not care either they are real people or not (hope some CAPTCHA will protect me from bots ). So I’ll try to use Login extension. I’m just scared of it’s potential complexity which is witnessed by the fact that even developers have some troubles with it
