Works fine in 2.1.3 and latest develop for me Zaigham. If you are using 2.1.2, upgrade to 2.1.3 and see if that resolves the issue for you.

Its weird, I just checked in available install of v2.1.1 and it worked.

So its likely 2.1.2 issue?

Just wanted to confirm something - does IF execute both THEN and ELSE and ditches the one it's not using (or does Modx execute snippets this way), or does only the result get executed?

Very good question. All tags are processed if they appear in the content... see http://modx.com/blog/2012/09/14/tags-as-the-result-or-how-conditionals-are-like-mosquitoes/ for some more insight on the subject.

Yeah I had read that - so yes, basically, as the tags are part of the content, even if their result isn't show to the end user.
