Excellent news, keep it up please!

Any plans of front end editing like Maxigallery?

        This would be key!

haha, sorry that wasn’t the answer I was expecting.

Part of the beauty of Evolution (for me anyway), is that I can create sites that users can edit, change, create pages etc, without entering the manager back-end.

AND including gallery uploading and sorting w maxigallery through the front end.

From what I have seen of Revo, so far, is that is intended for all users to go in through the back end.

The fully front-end usage is one powerful thing (of many) that separates modx from other cms’s out there.

You can design for even the least tech-savy people.

              Language string not found: "gallery.menu_desc"

              Language string not found: "gallery"

I get these errors upon trying to install.

Dont have install issues with any other packages but this one. sad

it seems fine until I try to create an album, when I try to save an album I get the saing dialog, then afterwards nothing has happened.

Reload your page and check the menu under the Component main menu.
The first time you install Gallery, it check for the existence of the menu value and if they are not found, tell that the language string was not found.

It is not an issue, just an install check.

As I said in my previous post. I am unable to create albums, when creating an album the dialogue pops up, I put in the album name etc, tick whatever boxes, but when I click save, the saving dialogue completed, but the create album dialogue doesn’t disappear, and no albums are created.

                    Hey all...

Just wondering why you are not using the database to host the files? I know some people question which is better a file on the server or an entry in the database, however I have always found that entries in the db work better for galleries imo... I am having major problems with resizing the images using phpThumb, because the loads times are around 10-15 seconds mark and that’s pretty bad imo. Never really favoured dynamically resizing images on the fly.

Uploading the same image binary into 4 fields of a db table I personally think works best (micro, thumb, standard, large).

I have built something outside of MODx, however trying to get to grips with OOP to work with the MODx framework... Do you have any objections to me using the Gallery module as a basis and working from that to implement the use of database images? If yes, could you point me in the right direction on how to repackage it as a new module or such like?

I did post a feature request on GITHUB, and I am happy to answer any further questions should they arise.

                    Look forward to your reply.
                    Jon
