1. Please delete from "tinymce\tiny.js" lines 100-104
2. Also bag with TinyMCE when it is a TV-parameter of Weblink (not "document" - only "weblink").

Also you can try do this : when running TinyMCE as a TV-parameter of Weblink, press "Fullscreen" on the TinyMCE’s panel. In fullscreen mode enter some text. Now exit from fullscreen mode - in my case text is not saved.

why did when I tried to install this via package mngmnt, then it stopped?

yes, you are right.
try this:
1) do clear installation modx 2.0-rc3
2) install tiny-4.0.1-rc1 with package manager.
If install agains failed go here:
http://svn.modxcms.com/jira/secure/IssueNavigator.jspa?sorter/field=priority&sorter/order=DESC
and apply all pathes with "red arrow" and "Affects Version/s" : "Revolution-2.0.0-rc-3".
After that try install tyny again...

Why does TinyMCE stop working if I change the setting tiny.template.theme to anything other than "editor"?
