I’ve noticed someone else on here had the same problem I had with respect to xmlreader. There were actually several package dependencies that mxCalendar required of PHP. Luckily, I do have access to my PHP install, but I found myself adding in the new dependency and then finding that another is required. It seems that mxCalendar does rely on some PHP libraries that are not installed by default in lite environments. Could you update the documentation to include these requirements? It would have been much quicker if I could look at the project site and see the requirements, then build them in all at once (because PHP can be a beast to build once, let alone several times).
I also had the problem with the extra parenthesis mentioned above, I took care of it myself instead of downloading the new file because I have made a change to the class file. This was not a big deal, but with the other comment about repeat events adding the repeat code to the page, this was more of an issue. I see that you have applied an update to resolve this, and I resolved it before seeing the update by adding the following to CSS:
p.repeat { visibility: hidden; display: none; }
Will this cause any major problems? If I download the latest class file, I will have to reincorporate my own one-line change, which causes the events in monthly calendar view to have the "category" added to the class so that the event can be colored, per request of my girlfriend. http://www.dellion.net/events.html, each event has the category appended to the class name for the event and the CSS styles the font-face appropriately. My implementation is a hack-job, as the styling should be embedded with the color choice (so we have to update the CSS manually); I tried adding it as a feature request, but I had trouble using the wiki board/bug tracker. I don’t mind re-adding the line that does this for major updates every once in awhile if something like this is planned for future enhancement.
