The online documentation is much appreciated and so much better than what is -usually- available for open-source software.

It sure would be handy to have a consolidated .pdf of the docs though, so I could print the whole thing and read it offline.

Just a wish/suggestion from a very appreciative user.

      Dear Michael !

We have some nice icons there, I call them "Page Tools", give you ability to bookmark the pages, and also directly print the document immediately.

      Isn’t this enough ?

As, for consolidated documentation put an overhead for us.. so it might affect the over all quality of docs tongue ... but who knows, maybe your wish come true in future wink

      regards,

We might be able to do it though. Have a snippet to run xml or plain text file with the corresponding documentation address page. SO everytime the snippet is run, it will browse the page step-by-step following the given xml or text file that we can call it table-of-content. This way, when we have a new addition, all we need is to run this snippet, and get the corresponding pdf file.

DOes it sounds complicated? I think so grin This can be put as a side project, when the documentation team have time to devellope this kind of tool, so that the doc can be included with modx distribution as well.

        Sincerely,

This talk of "snippets" and XML is above my head, but as long as its a possibility at some point, and before I learn everything in the meantime...I’m all for it grin

Lol, that’s just an idea that I would like to pour out. Maybe someone will take this idea and come up with the real solution. Who knows? lol

Sure am glad someone thinks I’m funny. tongue
Maybe I’ll do this myself. I’ve got Adobe Acrobat Professional. I suppose I could just make pdf’s of all the docs, and put them together. I’m not sure if that’s possible, but I’ll look into it. It’s the least I can do to contribute to this most awesome cms.

                Nice try.
Hope to see your contribution. Try to do some research first, before doing it in a brute force way. Maybe there is a software that can fetch web page just like you browsing the page, and compile it into one pdf document.

                Happy searching and trying.

                Regards,

I know someone who says that Adobe Acrobat Pro can save entire sites into PDF with one command! If anyone can do this and post that would be great!

Your friend is correct. I’m doing it right now. When it’s done, I’ll submit it. But I’m not sure to whom I should submit it? Any takers?

Just attached it with your first post, and change the name of the topic accordingly. You can start keep the document up to date, whenever there is a new addition to the documentation section. With this, you will totally contribute to all the people in this community and it will help all the people who are looking the same solution to what you’re thinking right now smiley

Have fun hanging out in MODx forum.
