Now I’m trying to do the site for university and I want to have a lot of usergroups with different access to the content and resourses(including modx/manager).
I want to have something like this :
administrator(full rights)
moderators(have an access to all exept of code(resources and groups))
heads of the departments(or assistant-access) - each of them will be an administrator of its own group and have an access to some extra-profile-fileds and can promote users to the teachers and students of this department. Also they can access resources that is related to theirs department(in order to fill some info about a department).
Teachers hasn’t got any exeptional rights, but I need a status in order to recognize them later and add some fields in profile.
With this structure there will be no need in "content-manager" that will fill resources with departments, and I could auto-generate all the information I need, like a name of the group, then short info about the group with the name of the head of this department, then a link to all of teachers or students, then - a profile of a teacher or student, so I could actually manage the structure of the whole university just using just 2-4 resources and GET param with the id of the group\person.
Also I want to have not a "just-list-of-members" but some pre-moderation - if a person wants to be in some group he\she must request for it and a moderator will accept or decline him.
Is it possible to do this with modX or not? If it is possible - please give me some manuals or advices, any help will be usefull.

We did something similar in Evolution, I am sure you could do it in Revolution as well.
Basically, we created managers for each of the groups, you can set the rights for each type of manager, and gave each manager a custom login page where they could manage their group. These were custom pages since each group had specific needs.
People could join one or more groups as ’Web Users’. Using the User ID as the tracking code, we created a table for the information we couldn’t capture in the regular ’Web User’ table.
You will need a script to take your ’auto generated’ information and add it to the Modx tables.
We haven’t done a project of this size in Revolution yet, but it has many more features than Evolution and you may not need much of the custom programming we needed in Evolution.
Is there some manuals about managing with user access policy?
It is actually hard to understand how it is working with a monkey method... There are a lot of switchers and buttons ) But now I can see that there are tools for limiting access.
PS maybe there are some plugins, that may be usefull for this kind of website?
It isn’t the info that I was looking for.
I need a manual of how to use security tab(the 3-d) with its user managment, access control and resources groups.
Also it would be great if there will be an example of how to manage those tabs from the web.
