Brief Description:
ModuleCreator v.0.1 creates a simple add, update and delete module for your ModX site. Easy to style with the included css file.

Does this create a module where you can edit a mysql database with?
Can you post a screenshot of a created module?

Module Creator will give you a simple module. It will add, update and delete records in your mysql database. Later I would like to add more supported datatypes and make it easier to install.

I will be updating ModuleCreator to fix this, and some other issues.

Here are some of the fixes I will be working on.

1. Add an onDelete configuration option so ModuleCreator can run an sql query on delete.
2. Change the validation to just strip out unwanted stuff, and use $modx->db->escape();
3. Code cleanup and documentation (if time permits)
4. Allow ModuleCreator to create or alter the db tables based on the configuration. (if time permits)

Hello,

How alive is this module? I am planning to use this in a project but would need some changes, like being able to edit in Textarea fields. But I cannot afford to use a ’dead’ module in my projects.

I am glad to see some interest in the Module Creator Module. I have/am using it in production for over a year now, with nothing but simple validation issues. I will be using/updating ModuleCreator for a project I have coming up early next year. I will be sure to post the update then.

I just uploaded a new version of moduleCreator today 3/24/2010. After admin review it should be avaliable for download.

Here is the discription:


ModuleCreator v.0.2 can create a simple add, update and delete module for your ModX installation.


You can modify your config.ini and db.ini to set up any add, update, delete type module you like.

New to v0.0.2

moduleCreator will create the table in the mysql database if it does not already exist!


ModuleCreator v.0.2 still only supports text, checkboxes and radio buttons for data input at this time.
More input types are planned for a later release.


You can create a ModX snipplet or modify the example snipplet to display your data however you like on the web site front end.



Instructions



Install:


1. Upload the moduleCreator directory to assets/modules directory in your ModX Install.

2. Go to the moduleCreator directory and copy the sampleModule to whatever you want to call your new module. example - "cp -rp sampleModule newModule"

3. Go the the new module directory you just created and edit the config.ini and db.ini to suit your needs.



4. Edit the module.txt file to correct the paths at the beginning of the file.

5. In the ModX manager create a new module, name your module whatever you like.

6. Copy and paste the contents of module.txt into the Module code text box and save your new application.

7. Done - Access your new app under the ModX Modules tab.

8. copy and paste the contents of snipplet.txt into a new snipplet.

9. call the snipplet on a page of your choice to see the front end sample display

Note: you will want to edit the css in the snipplet to match your site.





Upgrading:



There have been alot of changes since v.0.0.1 so First backup your existing data!, db.ini, and config.ini,
then copy the new files where they need to go by following the Install instructions.
