i am having trouble downloading any extras via the package management area. i believe i have all the correct folders and permissions.
how do i get passed this?

i am very new to this and trying to follow the simple tutorial on the modx site but can’t finish it due to this hurdle.

my web host tell me i have cURL activated - i read this might be a problem if missing.

here is a pic of what i get when trying to download any extras:

all the download buttons seem to activate when i try downloading wayfinder and it just stays like this

    Thank you

I don’t know if the cURl is activated.

If you want, dowalod the package from modx eztra and put them in the core\packages directory
then "import" from local with "add package"

        thanks for help
i added the wayfinder package to core/packages and tried to add manually, but nothing could be found.

My hosting assure me that cURL is active.

i have no idea what is happening as there are no errors, i started off with an older version of modx and had this issue, i updated it and still the same issue.

        huh bit frustrated

Go to Reports -> System Info and click on the view link to see if cURL is really enabled.

yep it seems to be on:

            "curl
            cURL support enabled
            cURL Information libcurl/7.15.5 OpenSSL/0.9.8b zlib/1.2.3 libidn/0.6.5 "

any other reason this could be happening?

                Running out of ideas. wink

Make sure your core/packages directory is writable.

Check the database in PhpMyAdmin -- look at the modx_workspaces table and check the path there.

Also, sometimes one or more files get corrupted or lost in the file transfer when downloading or uploading the site. It happens more often than you might think.

I was working on a site on (the previously excellent, but now crappy) Liquidweb shared hosting, where php_info said something was running, but it required a change in the server config to actually make it work. It might be worth checking with your host tech support about cURL and such.

i have been on to my hosting supplier who have had a look into the cURL stuff and other php access stuff that goes a little over my head and assure me there is nothing wrong with serverside.

is there anything else that could be going wrong or could it just be a bad install?

                    thanks
