No DOCTYPE?

The BaseTemplate that comes with the Rev installer does NOT include the following:



It just contains a simple <html> tag.

How come? That would be handy-- I duplicate your BaseTemplate to create my templates.

It gives you the flexibility to add whatever doctype you want to use to code your template.

So if you’re going to create your templates using HTML5 it will simply be <!DOCTYPE html>. If you’re going to use XHTML1.0 strict then do the other.

Use the correct doctype for the HTML spec you intend to use.

It’s not there, you have to edit it to whatever doctype you want to use. I edited my initial post to reflect that. The base template is just there as a starting point. If you want to use that as your base I recommend you first rename it so that your changes don’t get overwritten in future upgrades, and then you’ll need to edit the html tag to reflect the doctype you want to use and then continue building on it.

MODx comes with an empty template, you have to create your own or convert an existing one into MODx which is pretty simple if you follow marys tutorials
