While I have found an abundance of information on the setup of MODX,I am stuck on the newbiest of issues.

Home do I make the modx index page the homepage of the site (so when the base url [i.e. google.com] is loaded).

Right now, modx is in a directory "modx" at the root of the site. Modx pages are loaded via .com/modx/index.php. Is this wrong?

Thanks for any help to a newbie!

I’m not clear on your question. MODX will show whatever resource is specified in the site_start System Setting as the home page of the site.

MODX does route things through the index.php file, but you can use Friendly URLs to hide that fact.

The section at the site in my sig on how MODX works might be helpful.

Looks like you loaded your MODx files into a folder called modx and did your install there, where maybe perhaps you were hoping to do so in the root of your site. So you want http://mydomain.com but instead you’re getting http://mydomain.com/modx. Is this what you mean?

Is yes, there are two options: One is to move all your site files into your root and run the installer again in upgrade mode to clean up the paths, or else you can put redirects in your .htaccess to point your site to the root domain rather than the folder. If you haven’t gone too far in your site build then it may also make sense to just start afresh and make sure you put the MODx files directly in the root of your domain.
