Small story first: I was reading a book about "Neuromarketing in Internet" this afternoon with a cup of BonJour coffee, as it hit me like a flash (no alcohol in the coffee). I had to get up in middle of the book and write down right here: It’s so easy to bring emotion into MODx, but we (at least me until now) don’t have a focus in it right now (or do you? like to hear from you!). Shouldn’t we take MODx from CMS to EMS (something like "Emotional Content Management System")?

As we have learned and told our customers, a static web site is boring. They have learned to use a CMS - especially MODX - to create fresh content for their sites by themselves. Some of them even manage to use MODx for their SEO needs with remarkable success. The CMS has proofed its claim to be a SEO CMS.

In the last months a new focus has arrived to online marketing: SEO ist going ROI, or ROI optimization. Therefore I’d like to think and discuss about MODx as a ROI CMS. ROI is sounding pretty royal ("Le roi, c’est MODx", as France’s Sun Emperor Louis XIV used to say), best fit in these British kiss-me-Kate days, too.

As Return on Investment (ROI) has a lot to do with - yes - emotion (kisses !!!) - I’d propose for MODx a new claim as an EMS - "Emotions Management System". Or straight claim it a "Kiss-me-Kate CMS"?

From royal to real. Beeing able to easily put in any content from images to video, from interactive to gaming or to shopping, the happy MODx users can do a lot of emotional marketing if they are aware. As is bringing in stories, faces, interactive engagement, for example.

And we could make them even more aware: We could for some clients or in some templates redefine the summary (introtext) field to "Tell a little story", as a starter to the further content of that page (see image attached). And having them put MetaDescription oder other content usually entered into summary in an other Template Variable.

As the grammar of emotions is complex in real life and ROI is in WWW, there may be a lot to enhance in getting them together. I’m sure MODx is giving us the best foundations for that, which in the end is helping our customers to create better web sites. Smiley here: smiley.

Please feel free to put your thoughts to my Facebook discussion page http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=162983633516&topic=15108 or here in this thread. The FB fan page is German as me (but younger), but I started the discussion in English as everybody in the MODx world does understand it. Hope you appreciate (one more smiley here: smiley).

If you allow I will collect your thoughts into my Facebook site too and eventually translate them to German if interesting for my fans and customers. So of course you can answer in German here too, I’ll try to translate into English.

So what do you MODx experts, web design gurus and SEO/ROI consultants think of MODx as an EMS?
