    I have several plugins installed (Polls, visioncart, quip, gallery, etc) and when I click on these items in Components, the manager page loads with only the top bar and the sidebar, and nothing in the main content area. It’s happening with all of them.

    Any ideas what could be going wrong? I’ve cleared the cache (manually and through the clear cache in the backend) and still nothing is showing. Is there an error log I can look up for the manager? The modx error log in reports is empty. Revo 2.0.8

      Any ideas anyone? It’s really weird - maybe I need to reinstall 2.0.8?

        Try opening the pages while having Firebug running, and see if there’s any errors reported there related to JavaScript or failing HTTP requests. The latter one could indicate wrong folder permissions.

        Also, if the error log in the manager seems empty, it’s worth checking core/cache/logs/error.log as well. When it reaches a certain size it’s no longer loading in the manager, but can definitely contain loads of errors wink

          Thanks Mark for the reply.

          I got an error when loading the Gallery component:
          [2011-04-28 18:34:41] (ERROR @ /manager/index.php) Path specified for package gallery is not a valid or accessible directory: /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/centurion/core/components/gallery/model/
          [2011-04-28 18:34:41] (ERROR @ /manager/index.php) Could not load class: GalControllerRequest from gallery.request.galcontrollerrequest.

          It’s looking for this component on the local dev server and not the live server where the sites been transferred to. The rest of the site is running great, the paths are correct in the config.inc.php file and the workspace is correct in the database table. Any idea where it is storing this path?

          These are the firebug JS errors I get when trying to load Visioncart

          missing ; before statement
          http://www.domain.com/centurion/assets/components/visioncart/mgr/js/visioncart.js?v=207pl
          Line 2

          vcCore is not defined
          http://www.domain.com/manager/?a=78
          Line 25

          missing ; before statement
          http://www.domain.com/centurion/assets/components/visioncart/mgr/js/page_shops.js?v=207pl
          Line 2

          Once again the path is incorrect, it should be
          http://www.domain.com/assets/components/visioncart/mgr/js/page_shops.js?v=207pl

          Any idea where I specify these paths?

            Those are probably stored in the System Settings - the Gallery ones for sure and wouldn’t be surprised if the same was true for VisionCart.

            Go to System -> System Settings and find the dropdown that says "Core" by default (it’s the Namespace selector). Open it and select Gallery or VisionCart. You’ll see a bunch of addon-specific system settings. Check them & update the values smiley

            Update: Added a little something on this to the "Moving Your Site To a New Server" documentation page, as this is a common issue.

              ok I’ve updated the paths and no cigar.

              I think it’s something on the system level as TinyMCE has stopped working too. Basically all plugins aren’t working in the backend, so could some system wide setting change somehow?

              For example, polls bombs out with this error in firebug:

              Polls is not defined
              http://www.centurionrunning.com/manager/?a=77
              Line 24

              and Line 24 is:
              Polls.config = {"basePath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/","corePath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/","modelPath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/model\/","processorsPath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/processors\/","chunksPath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/elements\/chunks\/","jsUrl":"\/centurion\/assets\/components\/polls\/js\/","cssUrl":"\/centurion\/assets\/components\/polls\/css\/","assetsUrl":"\/centurion\/assets\/components\/polls\/","connectorUrl":"\/centurion\/assets\/components\/polls\/connector.php"};

              the basepath is correct, should there be all the escaping slashes?

                Are those js, css, assets and connector urls correct? The escaping is needed cause it’s in json.

                TinyMCE has messed up stuff before - it probably didn’t survive the transition cause the files were not writable and now it’s missing a bunch. Try force uninstalling + removing that and downloading it again.

                  Thanks for your help Mark.

                  I’ve uninstalled everything except polls, getresources and breadcrumb (all three work in the front end), done everything I can think of and I still get all these javascript errors in firebug when I go to components/polls in the manager

                  Polls is not defined
                  http://www.centurionrunning.com/manager/?a=77
                  Line 24
                  Polls.config = {"basePath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/","corePath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/","modelPath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/model\/","processorsPath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/processors\/","chunksPath":"\/home4\/centuri8\/public_html\/centurionrunning\/core\/components\/polls\/elements\/chunks\/","jsUrl":"\/centurion\/assets\/components\/polls\/js\/","cssUrl":"\/centurion\/assets\/components\/polls\/css\/","assetsUrl":"\/centurion\/assets\/components\/polls\/","connectorUrl":"\/centurion\/assets\/components\/polls\/connector.php"};
                  Polls.config.connector_url = "/centurion/assets/components/polls/connector.php";

                  the Polls.config.connector_url is incorrect as it is with every component - it should be /assets/components/polls/connector.php, but I can’t see where I can change this default path. I also have no idea how this could have changed.

                  Should I attempt to install 2.1 RC4 over the top of this install? (after a full backup!)

                  I’m at my wits end here and not sure how to solve this.

                    Are there any system settings at System->System Settings-> where it says "core" choose "Polls"?

                    As for "Polls is not defined" - this is probably related to the base path being off, and it being unable to find the right files. If you’d check all Polls-related javascript files in the header, you’ll most likely find that they aren’t working either.

                    You could also check your config.inc.php file (in the core/config directory) and see if the base_path definition in there is correct.

                      Mark, you are a champion.

                      $modx_assets_url= ’/centurion/assets/’; in config.inc.php was wrong, changed it to $modx_assets_url= ’/assets/’; and BINGO.

                      Thanks so much for your help. I’m back on track now!
