Hi all.
I’m very confused as to why my installation of TinyMCE is not working at all. I’ve double checked everything that I’ve come across and still I have no option to use the RTE. I’m looking at System Settings right now and Enable Rich Text Editor has a value of Yes, and Editor to use says TinyMCE - I tried other browsers *and* platforms to no avail. Does anyone have any advice? Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks for any insight, I appreciate it.
MODx Revolution 2.0.8-pl (traditional), Linux vux72 2.6.33.2-NETSOL, PHP Version 5.2.13, MySQL Client API version 5.0.89, pdo installed, All browsers and platforms tested.
Hi again.
I just wanted to post that I think it may have something to do with Network Solutions being the host environment. I loaded TinyMCE on an install at Mediatemple and it works just fine. Anyone have any ideas what I need to do to allow this to work on my NetSol host?
Thank you!
You’ve probably already done these, but ...
TinyMCE is a large package. Make sure that it’s not over your host’s upload limit.
Make sure the richtext box is checked on the page settings for the docs you want to use TinyMCE on.
Make sure the files are there in assets/components/tinymce and core/components/tinymce.
Clear the site cache manually by deleting the files in the core/cache directory.
Flush all permissions, then flush all sessions.
Clear your browser cache and cookies.
Log in again.
Another thing to try is:
Uninstall and remove all versions of TinyMCE
Download TinyMCE from
http://modxcms.com/extras
FTP it to the core/packages directory
In Package Manager, click on "Add Package" and "Search Locally for Packages"
Install TinyMCE.
Tiny is definitely cranky. It shouldn’t make any difference, but sometimes it does.
I’m glad it worked for you.
Hi All,
Ok, Ive been having the same issue. Went through the procedure in #3 a fews time now and still no TinyMce for admins or other users. Oddly, even after I nuke the the TinyMce files from core/packages and assets/components, empty the cache, flush permission -- everything imaginable, the Package Manager still lists TinyMce. After I have the PM do an install, the files are in the right place, but still not visible to the user. That makes me think a configuration table isn’t being updated.
How can I tell if the manager is looking in the right place for the files?
Any ideas?
2.0.8
Nevermind. It was the $modx_assets_url missing the parent directory.
Marc
I know this is an old post, but I ran across this issue today:
the site this was on is currently running the latest EVO version, but I am guessing this might be a quick fix for the REVO sites out there. ( I will have to go check my other sites to see if the problem persists )
-- quick fix was going to the tinyMCE interface configuriation:
Tools > Configuration > Interface & Features
from there I noticed the 'theme' was set on custom (not sure why), I just changed the theme and it was fixed. I tested the 'simple' and 'advanced' themes and everything worked fine.
ModX. 'nuff said.

I just moved over a MODX Cloud project to a Strato Server and everything appeared to be fine. However when the client started to add text content to a resource using TinyMCE, it would sit with the dreaded "saving" pop up forever. It turned out that this only happened when someone copied text and pasted it into Tiny.
I then reinstalled Tiny to see if that would clear it up, but it did not. In fact it now is worse. Tiny doesn't even show up anymore in the resource form.
I then deinstalled, manually cleaned out the cache folder, checked to see if all files were deleted from the server, then downloaded the add-on directly, uploaded the zipped package using ftp, in PM search for the package locally, installed it, and still the same thing. All files have been installed on the server, all settings are there to see, no MODX errors were written in the error log. And now I don't know what else to try. Oh wait... I also ran setup again. Nothing changed.
Here are some of the particulars:
MODX 2.2.8
PHP 5.2.17
MySQL 5.5.31-log
allow_url_fopen:on
allow_url_include:off
magic_quotes_gpc:off
safe_mode:off
register_globals:off
Tiny MCE 4.3.3
Anyone have any ideas?

Just for fun, I thought I would test eIRTE, but that also does not show up for use on the resource form. If I assign Codemirror as the resource editor it shows up though!
Any thoughts?
