Handling MODx deployments? Dev -> Prod (and staging too?)

Yeah, transport packages is probably exactly where this is headed... I wish there were more docs on it ... even for Evo.

The main ways I’ve done this to date is one of two ways. One was where I only perform updates on a dev/staging setup and then manually export/import and file copy/update to push to prod. The other site where I’m doing it, the CMS/resource editor functions are not used too much so I just manually push files around and have snippets setup to call the snippets. Certainly neither ideal long term.

Any one know how other CMSs do this effectively? Seems like versioning is certainly something that would feed into this but that seems a ways out on the roadmap.
