getResources doesn't display results

As soon as I put a template variable in the getResources call, I no longer get any results. I’m at a loss. For example:

[[!getResources? &parents=`171`]] - will display the normal array results. Right now there are 3 results and I see them properly.

However...

[[!getResources? &parents=`171` &tpl=`list_li`]] - will display absolutely nothing. The chunk is available and has proper variable calls. It won’t display any part of the template so it doesn’t even look like it loops through the list. I tried using other chunks to see if that help but no luck.

I’m using Modx 2.0.6, but had the same issue with 2.0.5.
