      Okay here it is

a:active is when you have the mouse button pressed on the link, that changes the button state "on click".
a.active is an anchor with the class of ’active’.

Wayfinder does not load any javascript automatically, and the browser can’t add any class without manual javascript.

Do you have any javascript loaded along side your wayfinder call to allow the appending of your .active class ?

Apart from running this with Wayfinder, I am not running any special javascript for the active class.
And it does work, look here and it also works in FF with javascript disabled.

I’ve looked at the link, the active class only appears only if the link is clicked, not on hover.
I may have misunderstoood your issue to begin with.

Edit; I’ve looked at your site, and the active class is also added on click on the li.

I never had an issue. The question was to create a "current" state. Not an on click nor a hover.
