It’s hard to make suggestions since it’s most likely a WAMP configuration issue.
Do you have Friendly URLs turned on? It might help to turn them off and rename .htaccess to ht.access for the transfer.
Hello BobRay
Yes, before I zipped up the entire modx directory, I turned off FURLs and renamed ".htaccess" to "ht.access". I also followed the advice on your website about enabling Drop Table and Create Table when exporting the SQL.
Although I don’t doubt it could be a WAMP issue, I don’t understand why. I’m using the same version on both machines, unaltered, and using the exact same filepaths etc - I’m probably being very naive, but to me the two set-ups are practically carbon copies.
Is there something else I should be checking?
Are you sure you renamed .htaccess *before* you zipped up all the files. If not, that could be your problem.
I’m afraid I’m strictly an XAMPP guy, so I’m no help on any WAMP issues.
You did do an upgrade install at the new site, right?
Check the values in the four config.core.php files:
§ MODX root directory
§ /manager/
§ /connectors/
§ /setup/includes/
And check the values in core/config/config.inc.php -- especially the DB name, user, password, and character set.
It’s also possible that one or more files was corrupted or missed in the transfer if you used FTP. It happens more often than you might think. And check the memory_limit setting on the second site.
That’s really all the configuration there is to MODX, so it it’s not that, it must be WAMP.
At last!
It seems at some point I created a user within MYSQL that I hadn’t recreated at the other end.
Problem solved!
Glad you got it worked out.
Thanks for reporting back.
