I’ve been working on a project (Revolution) all day and logged out of manager. Went to log back in 5 minutes later and now get this error:-

An unknown error occurred while trying to log in

The username and password are right. I’ve been into phpMyAdmin and under the modx_user_attributes table the ’blockeduntil’ reads 0 so wonder if the log in query is even getting this far. Front end all OK and tried various browsers? Also tried changing the password and get the same error during this process

The only notable thing I have done today is install the getresourcefield plugin. This installed perfectly and runs perfectly. Is there a chance this is having an affect?

anytime there’s a login problem i always have to ask, caps-lock key isn’t on, right?

Definitely no caps lock. Rather than a ’wrong username/password’ message the ’An unknown error occurred while trying to log in’ message might suggest this has nothing to do with the username and password itself? I’m also getting the same message with the details emailed back to me when trying to change the password?

I’m not sure it will help, but that error occurs when the login processor (core/model/modx/processors/security/login.php’) doesn’t set either a success message or an error message.

I’d try manually deleting the files in the core/cache directory and clearing your browser cache and cookies.

                Exact same issue for me.
Tried deleting all files in core/cache dated today, did not change a thing.
It happened after installing the Frontpage Package (coincidental or not...)

                Any ideas?

I found no solution to this issue and had to start from scratch. This made me nervous and I backed up frequently during the rebuild.

I too have been struggling with the Frontpage Package in conjunction with the necessary Login Package, which on the face of things is a lovely idea, and also became terminally logged out with the message: An unknown error occurred while trying to log in.

The way around this for me was that, by FTP, I deleted the two files in core/cache/mgr and was immediately able to login.
