Hi everybody. I have a question. Lets say , we have a blog site, developed with MOdx. But we don’t want to place our post from the manager panel, even we want to let everybody (after registration and logging in) post those articles. It was easy in previous versions of MODx ( using NewsPublisher snippet). But in recent versions there is no NewsPublisher anymore. So is there any other way to add posts? I am pretty new with modx, so please don’t be very critical to my question smiley Thanks in advance.

I don’t know about Revo, but Evo comes with a sort of built-in "blog" if you install the example site. The way you post to it is to make someone a web user, and then they log in from the front-end instead of the Manager. Their log-in is set up to go to the blog entry page.

You’ll need to read up on it a bit, I think. More info here:

Caveat: I don’t use MODx for blogging, so I’m not an expert on that, I use Wordpress.

      Good luck.

I can recommend pubkit http://www.pogwatch.com/pubkit.html. I’ve just set up a system for a group to post area group reports from the front end website rather than the backend manager. It takes a little bit of effort to set up but works just great, it includes a management page to edit and delete postings and works very well. Please ask if you have any questions.

Ok, sounds great, but.... Is there any other ways to use any alternative to PubKit. I mean - i like this shippet system very much, but I am trying to figure out did somebody find another way to do everything what was done with NewPublisher in previous versions of MODX????

If you still have your older versions of MODx, you can extract NewsPublisher from there and install in the current version of Evolution. It was dropped because of lack of support for TVs, not because it won’t function any more.

I think everything you need is in the main snippet code (one thing I don’t like about it - HTML is knitted into the PHP). Just open up the snippet in the manager in 0.9.x, copy it, paste it into a new snippet in 1.0.x, et voila!

I have checked PubKit site - looks like its good snippet, but Does anybody know how to use it with fresh development? On this site we can download it bur there is no any understandable documentation how to install it and how to use it. May be you guys know any good tutorials of using it?

Yes, sorry I’ve not had time to do the full documentation on how to install etc. yet, and won’t be able to do it before September.

Meanwhile it is worth having a look at pkBlog, the forerunner to PubKit, which has similar installation procedures, and has more details on setting up included in the zip package.
