I am wanting to know if there is such a thing for downloading a web page content to the website visitor’s computer. My client has requested to have a download icon or something. to be placed somewhere on the web page, so that the website visitor can download the web page content. He only wants the web page content which can added via MODx resources, not the template design. Preferably as a pdf and to have an option of printing. So if someone knows of such a thing, please post it here?

The only thing I can think of offhand is to create a PDF file for each page and provide a button with a link to that file.

I guess it’s theoretically possible to have a snippet that sets the ID of the page as a $_SESSION variable and have the button link to a page with another snippet that would create the PDF file on-the-fly from the page content, then serve up the PDF file for download. There are some PDF generators out there so this ought to be doable, but I think for many users, the browser would launch Adobe Reader so they’d have to save the PDF file from within Adobe Reader.

Someone else may have a better idea.
