What is the best way of moving Revolution MODx site to live server?

Having read http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Advanced+Installation
and http://bobsguides.com/modx-installation-faq.html

and a few other tuts, I tried moving from dev server to live site.
Blank white page when trying to login to manager, frontend working fine.
Tried doing points in the FAQ, no joy.

What is the best method to move to live server?
Should I use the provisioner package, is that easiest and likely to avoid the white screen of death in manager?

well, 3 hours later...

this was the workflow:

1. remove everything, try installing a vanilla setup - all ok
2. remove everything, try moving a local site zipped file to the server then extracting,
3. modify cache folder to 777
4. modify config.inc.php in /core/config to use server paths as specified in Bob’s faq - http://bobsguides.com/modx-installation-faq.html
5. try logging into the manager - ALL OK!
