Hi! I’d like to create a blog managed using Modx.

    I’ve seen this post

    http://rtfm.modx.com//display/revolution20/Creating+a+Blog+in+MODx+Revolution

    But I’d like to know:

    - where Can I download a "blog style" template to use in modx?
    - how Can I create a list of post in home page, sorted by date .... with the date/symbol (I mean calendar day) for each post.... as used in many blogs
    - how Can I show tweets and other blogs plugin??

    Thanks

      Hi,

For a template, simply create your own, or I’m sure there are any number of HTML/CSS blog templates available from places like ThemeForest that you could use.

To display a list of posts on your homepage, simply use the getResources snippet with a chunk that displays the required fields from each blog entry. The getResources call can also handle the sorting etc.

The getFeed snippet is handy for pulling in tweets, and easy to configure.

      Hope this helps,
      Phil

Not sure I understand your question entirely, but I think you’ll find everything you need for managing a blog right in the MODx extras. You can use getResources to pull in individual posts onto a blog page (see http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2011/04/11/modx-revolution-for-complete-beginners-part-10-using-getresources-to-aggregate-content/), Quip for commenting, Archivist for archives, getPage for pagination, etc. etc. If you need something specific ask and I’m sure someone who’s implemented that particular thing will respond, but for the basics it’s all there.

The tutorial you linked to is excellent, and I’m also working on a beginners series for Revo at the end of which you will have a pretty complete website, including a blog (the link I posted above is part of the series).

You can find blog-like templates everywhere on the web, and all you need to do is port it into MODx. One good place to look for premium templates is ThemeForest.
