    Hi all

I’m looking for a mailinglist snippet.

    Requirements
Easy way for users to subscribe on the website.
Easy way to create and send mails to the list of subscribers.
There’s no need to be able to send to different groups of subscribers. If the option is there, great, if it’s not, no problem.

Mailchimp seems to be the best, but the site is for a school and I think that in the future there might be more than 500 subscriptions (limit for the free edition), so I’d prefer a free solution, since schools are on a tight IT budget.

I’ve been looking under http://modxcms.com/extras/repository/packages/Email, but I was wondering if someone could tell me a little bit more about the advantages and disadvantages of certain snippets, experiences, ...

I don’t have time to check them all out right now...

    Thanks in advance
    Greetings, Kenny.

After trying quite a few MODx add-on mailing list apps, and even porting KoopsMailingList to MODx, I ended up falling in love with the perl Dada Mail. Putting the admin into a module was quite easy. You can customize the various parts of it (much like MODx), and having it use a specific MODx document made it easy; all you had to do was remove the alias of the last one you sent, duplicate it, edit the duplicate and give it the same alias. Then go to the module, log in to DADA, and send the email. This way your newsletters can be archived as MODx resources as well.

Hmmz, thanks for the response, but I’m not sure if that will be the easiest solution.

It would be nice if I could implement it in one day or so, and if it would be easy for the users too (like "send newsletter, fill in the form, click send" and not having to do things with the documents properties etc) (it’s a no-tech-savvy audience, and I’m on a really short timespan here...)

Grtz and thanks for the response.
