Is it just me or is it difficult to implement and run Modx modules? Please don’t take this the wrong way, I posted this because this is a serious question that I have.

I would like to say that Modx template system is brilliant. As far as my experience I have seen nothing so flexible and easy to implement. However, the downside that I currently see is the module installation and/or configuration.

I am not a programmer by any means. I don’t know much php but I can usually figure things out. I have experience with many very large open source programs. Most are clunky unlike Modx. But all these other clunky programs usually have very easy to install modules. With modx I have tried to configure: eforms (which already came installed), and install easy newsletter. Both have so many steps to manually take instead up uploading a php file to an area and then configuring inside of the control panel. I am aware that some of these modules may be made by outside sources, and that most likely Modx does not have the amount of contributors of some of the older CMS systems. It just seems to me that these are difficult to install and/or configure.

Is it just me, or are there easier modules to install and activate?

      It’s not just you. smiley

MODx Revolution (hopefully, soon to be released in RC1 form) has a Package Management system that installs components for you without all the cutting and pasting.
