Setting documents URL Alias tot he base_url

Is it possible to have a documents URL Alias point to the root of your website?

I want to use the Wayfinder to generate the top level menu,
,
etc. but the first link menu option needs to point to the root of the website, but instead it points to the documents ID (i.e. 3 = http://www.mydomain.com/3/ ).

If I set a URL Alias like home, then the menu link becomes http://www.mydomain.com/home/ . Can you specify a URL Alias like [base_url] or something so that the menu is rendered with the "/" alias to send the user back to the root?

Thanks for your time.

SEO Strict URLs plugin can do that: http://modxcms.com/extras/package/395

Or use a weblink.
