I am hoping this is just an oversight on my part and someone can come to the rescue to tell me this isn’t the way it is!

What is the purpose of having the ability to install multiple editors (ie TinyMCE and EditArea) if you cannot toggle between the two? I would figure you would be able to spark up TinyMCE when you are editing rich text and then toggle over to EditArea when you were editing a snippet or other piece of raw code. However, as far as I can tell, the only want to toggle is to go into system settings and change the master setting of which editor to use? Is this really the case or is there a better way to achieve this?

You can set the editor of choice for individual manager users. There is also a drop-down under the content editing field to select an editor to use.

Only the content editing field and TVs with a Rich Text input type for documents, and chunks can use an editor, although I believe there may be some plugins to attach editors to snippets, modules and plugins as well.

However, I find the limited space of the Manager’s editing fields to be awkward for me, so I use Firefox with the "It’s All Text" add-on that allows any textarea form field to be edited in one’s preferred editor.

EditArea is not a "rich-text editor", so it appears when you select [none] from the list.
