I made two sites with modx 9.6.3 both of them have a maxigallery. The second site is "just" a copy of the first one with a little different content.
At the first - the original site - QuickEdit and the "Manage Pictures" button from the MaxiGallery first behaved strangely (loading very long or linking to the index page) and now they are disappeared at all.
I cann’t find an difference between those two sites.
HTML-validation fixes didn’t help.
I haven’t got any clue what else I could do to fix this poblem.
Please can anyone help?
Thank you a lot.

The first site seems to be loading fine on this end.

Well yes, the site itself loads perfect.
Login also ok.
Just the Quickedit bar and the maxigallery admin ui doesn’t load.
I don’t care so much about the QE. But the MG is useless without working administrational buttons on the pages.
Set a doctype to validate the page
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=onefineday.org&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0#fatal-errors
Also I’d remove this space <base href="
http://www.onefineday.org/">
"_"</base>...
I tried that before. Now doctype is set to HTML5. The blank in the base tag was also another helpless try because the validator said that htere is a mistake.
Both things have no impact on tha tproblem whatsoever.
What if you disable plugins one by one!
Ok here we go:
http://html5.validator.nu/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fonefineday.org&showsource=yes
Try only this:
<base href="[(site_url)]">
http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/multipage/semantics.html#the-base-element
Right now I updated to 1.0.2 because it just had to work somehow. And it works now...
But maybe looking that way on the plugins will do it next time (well, hopefully there won’t be a next time...), to find out at least which ne is causing trouble.
And let me summarize:
- there was a problem with frontend editing tools
- the problem concerned one single site out of two online and another two local
- the problem wasn’t there at the beginning
- the problem got harder with time
- there were changes made only on the content since installation, no plugin or anything else was touched till then.
Could too many pages cause trouble? Didn’t think so.
Thanks a lot for your answers.
...I was too quick with my last post.
It worked after updating for a while, got unstable again and broke down again.
So that’s what we could reproduce again and again:
1. updating the instalation
2. maxiGallery works on my machine. Not very stable, but it works.
3. the editor tries to do the exact same in the exact same place from her machine and fails. She doesn’t do anything else but pushing the edit buttons. If she tries more than a couple of times, nobody can edit anymore maxiGallery. Same procedure if I log in on her machine.
4. we have to start at point 1. again
We have the same machines with the same OS.
Description of the "stable-factor" on my machine:
I would go to manager and the document with the gallery and press Preview. Then I get to see the "Manage Pictures"-button. I press it it usually the first one or two tries it doesn’t jump to the edit menu of the gallery but to the index-document. Third attempt succeeds on my machine.
So help is still needed.
Did you see the link I posted if you want to run html 5?
http://html5.validator.nu/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fonefineday.org&showsource=yes
The output of most snippets etc will be xhtml.
thanks mrhaw,
very strange output with the missing <b>s. I never get that code back.
But besides that HTML5 or XHTML doesn’t change anything. I tried all doctypes. You never know...
It’s still HTML5 because I forgot to turn it back to XHTML.
