    Hi there,

I wonder if you guys can help me with this possibly a nooddy question. I have a site running on Centos Linux box that uses MODx 1.0.2 (upgraded last night from 1.0.0) that the QuickManager doesn’t seem to work for me at all. The problem I have is that after I logged into the front end (I suppose front end means http://yoursite.com as oppose to http://yoursite.com/manager) with a web user account, the web page doesn’t show any QuickManager interface to me. Simply there is no difference between logged in or not logged in. What I expect to see is a horizontal bar that is displayed at the top of the web page but nothing is there.

Since my site uses a custom template, I suspected that may be caused by the template. However, I just now tested and confirmed the problem exists on a freshly installed MODx 1.0.2 based on a XAMPP running on my Windows 7 laptop. The install is purely default built, no customisations whatsoever. Still if I logged in as web user I don’t see any QuickManager horizontal bar at all.

I have gone through the QuickManager readme.html file that comes with the default MODx 1.0.2 but don’t see any there that the default MODx install may be a problem. Except that the system events enabled by default by the MODx 1.0.2 installation is:
    •OnWebPagePrerender
    •OnDocFormPrerender
    •OnDocFormSave
    •OnManagerPageInit

Whereas the QuickManager readme says the following should be enabled:
    •OnWebPagePrerender
    •OnDocFormPrerender
    •OnDocFormSave
    •OnManagerLogout

Changing the event to "OnManagerLogout" in my fresh install doesn’t make any difference.

    What is wrong here?

You have to use Manager Users for QuickManager not Web Users. QM just provides an interface to back-end functionality from the front end while browsing a site.

Thanks for the reply. I tested but the default login section on the front end doesn’t allow me to login with any manager user account.

        1. How do I access the front end with manager account? Am I misunderstanding "front end"?
        2. How do I give web user access to the functions like "create document", "edit document" etc.?

        Regards!

          1. Login the manager e.g. www.site.com/manager and then view your site normally e.g. www.site.com.

          2. Unfortunately you can’t give web users those privileges, you have to use manager users instead. You can create restricted user roler and assign those for manager users.

Thanks Maagit, I tested and it works fine.

In regards to creating / editing documents privileges unavailable to web users, I will go through the documentation again. I was intending to allow my web users to do so but now it seems I need to give them manager user identity instead.

            Regards!
