I’m lost smiley I can’t install this package. I’m completly new to modx and I haven’t succeeded in installing any packages yet. I’ve successfully installed modx and it seems to run as supposed. I havent seen any output yet, though.

How to install Ditto? Installation notes say:

    Installation:
    1. - Copy assets/snippets/ditto to the corresponding location on your site
    2. - Either create a new snippet titled Ditto with the contents of snippet.ditto.php or replace the contents of an existing snippet entitled Ditto to upgrade
    3. - Repeat step 2 for Reflect

I’ve downloaded ditto-2.1.2-alpha3.transport.zip both manually and via the package manager. When using the package manager it says "not installed" and I don’t know how to proceed.

I’ve also tried unzipping the manually downloaded ditto-2.1.2-alpha3.transport.zip. There’s no asssets/snippets/ditto in this?
Also where’s the corresponding location on my site supposed to be?

    Sidenotes
    - where’s the best getting started tutorial?
    - any getting started package avail?

    Thanks
    /Jesper

      Jesper,

      Welcome to MODx!

Sorry about your difficulties. I suspect you have are trying to install a MODx Revolution package inside a MODx Evolution install. Could you please confirm the version of MODx you are using? ditto-2.1.2-alpha3.transport.zip is definitely for MODx Revolution.

re side notes: There’s lots for Evolution. Please confirm first if this is the version of MODx you are using and we’ll point you to the resources.

Btw, it is advisable to use MODx Evolution if you are just starting out with MODx.

      cheers/k

I have re-read you post and I think you are definitely using MODx Evolution. OK, am totally lost. You are indeed using Revolution; it’s late here, ha!

Btw, did you install MODx with the sample content? It is advisable to do that so that you can learn how stuff works/is arranged in MODx. You also had the option to install commonly used packages such as Ditto. Did you install them? If not, grab this version of Ditto - http://modxcms.com/extras/download/146/146 (Ditto 2.1 for Evolution)

Here’s some resources for you (if you were using Evolution:)

I have re-read your post (again) and yes, you are using Revolution. Could you please state your server details? i.e. Apache, PHP, MySQL version, Browser, etc.

          To manually install a package

Uploading the file manually to core/packages/, and then clicking "Add New Package" and selecting the "Search Locally for Packages" option
          http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/Transport+Packages

There’s not many tutorials/guides for Revolution yet.

          There’s docs here though:

          http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/MODx+Revolution
