    Hi,

other than the Manual Installation instructions given in the SkinGraft wiki are there any other important details which may relate to a Linux based server?

I have installed SkinGraft as per the Manual Installation instructions, everything appears okay in the MODx Manager, but the SkinGraft Module does not run at all. I just get an HTTP 500 internal server error message.

I’ve used in on OS X, Solaris and Linux for years now without any problems. Could it be a problem with mod_security? Do you have the .htaccess in the manager directory with mod_rewrite turned off?

Hi, thank you for your reply.

I have now edited my manager/.htaccess file via my cPanel to show: RewriteEngine On

But when I had another go at installing the SkinGraft module the result was just the same. HTTP 500.

The content of my manager/.htaccess file is below, is there something else I should edit there, or is it something else altogether perhaps?

        Thank you, garrym

No. You NEVER want the rewrite engine on in the manager directory. That’s why the ht.access file is included there; to turn it off.

Having it set to on in a directory, and then set to on again in a child directory will cause 500 server errors.

Okay, no worries, I just changed it back.

I was having the HTTP 500 errors before the change, the original problem I posted about is still there.

So the mod_rewrite you are referring to is something else then?

You were referring to the .htaccess file in the manager directory, yes?

            as in public_html/[modxcms]/manager

If you’re getting a 500 Internal Server Error you should find the answer, or at least some good hints, in the error_log file for your website (presuming it’s Apache). This log file could be in a number of different places dependant on the config of your server but most likely will be in /var/log/httpd or something similar
