I have a simple usage of MODx, where I’m just using it to allow editing of content only on a few pages of the site. The header, sidebar and footer are all static with hardcoded links to pages. However the homepage uses FancyBox, and I’d like to know why the normal call for it doesn’t work. What I need to do to make it work within MODx?

I had the same issue.. It appears that fancybox doesn’t work when you are logged in to the manager and then look at the page while QuickEdit is enabled. If you are not logged in, or QuickEdit is disabled (see http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=26769.0), fancybox works.
