    Hi all,

I’m new with modx and i need help from you guys to point out a few things.

1-is there a newbie guide of some sort for ppl like me.? i have the web installed and running but when it comes to installing plugins or add on, i just cant seem to figure out how. the wiki doest give much clue. fyi im trying to install the treasurechest plugin.

2-im confused with the terms plugins, modules and templates used in modx. for example, i tried to install a plugin, and in its instruction it says something like , implying it is a module. so should i copy the install folder to modules folder or plugins? i tried both, but nothing much happen.

3-for confirmation, do they use the same standard or are the installtion methods for plugins/modules/templates differ in any way. i mean for each types(plugin, module, template)

sorry if my question has been posted somplace else.

    Thanx

*Modules add function to the manager and are for back-end only
        * Snippets are for adding function to the front-end...these are PHP scripts
        * Templates can either be site templates and will be stored in the Templates section..or they can sometimes be output templates for snippets (usually refered to as TPL or Template Chunks) and will be in the Chuncks section.

Basically yes. However there may be differences according to a particular situation...modx does not impose rules. Some will have supporting files that need to be uploaded while others are simply a matter of copying the text into the manager under Manage Reources in the correct section (templates, chunks, snippets or plugins) or under Manage Modules (if it is a module).
