    Hi everyone,

I am following the examples in Antano Solar John’s book, MODx Web Development, chapter 4 page 63.

Basically he is using the NewsPublisher to show a Blog form which when the user fills in and submits creates a child document with the newly created blog entry.

It works perfectly, but if you turn on FriendlyURL’s from, Tools -> Configuration -> Friendly URLs (TAB) then of course the same page in the browser won’t show up as for example: index.php?id=51 but I would like to make the NewsPublisher create the page with an alias of for example post001 so that then in the browser it will show up as post001.html

I really would like to use friendly URL’s instead of page ID’s for Search Engine Optimization purposes and also to make the site look better.

Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Neville

      Hi Neville,

did you rename the ht.access file to -> .htaccess ? you would also need to write "post001" into your alias-field

I really would like to use friendly URL’s instead of page ID’s for Search Engine Optimization purposes
in that case i would rather take a more specific/meaningful alias, e.g. "tutorial-on-search-engine-optimization"

        Hi sharkbait,

Thanks for your reply. When i tried to:
rename the ht.access file to -> .htaccess
        I got the following popup,

by the way I am using Microsoft Windows Vista Home as my Operating System

And I would like the post001, post002 etc etc be generated automatically with each Blog post...

        Do you know any workarounds?

        Thanks
