Ditto filter question

Hi .. im trying to do a page that only shows ditto docs based on author,
The end user ALWAYS puts teh author at the end of her document content, so im assuming the way to do this is use the &where parameter,

what would be the call for this please? or is there a better way of doing it ?

What if the author name is entered in a TV then you filter by that TV? Just thinking out loud here...

1. (I would) Use tagging/request extenders instead: Author names as tag in separate TV->back-end OR in description field->front-end.

The "createdby" field in the site_content table holds the user id of the user that created the document. That would be more reliable than looking at the content itself.

As I read it, the person creating the items is not the author, so the user ID isn’t going to help you pin it down to a field. And some kind of data field would be preferable to relying on the author name being accurately included in the item. The only thing people reliably "always" do is the thing you don’t expect, such as including other authors’ names in the body of the item, which might be caught by a crude filter. So I’d go along with the idea of including a tagging field of some sort (a selection list if you have a well defined list of authors, a free text field if necessary) and using Ditto’s tagging mechanisms to select the relevant material.
You don’t have to rely on displaying links to tagged sets - you can use &tags as a parameter to preselect your displayed list.
