I had phpThumb running under evo 1.0.5 and images are loading slowly. I had a look at the caching options and in the config file it says that the cache folder must be set to 777 for caching to work.
This worries me. Does this present an attack vector or does everyone have their cache folders set to 777 in phpThumb?
Cheers

It shouldn’t be 777 in most cases TBH, only in very limited shared hosting environments — technically, it should just be writable by the user executing the PHP process in your environment. If you don’t know what that means, ask your server admin or hosting support for help on the best settings for your environment to make the cache directory properly writable by PHP.
Thanks Opengeek, I’ve spoken to my admin and he’s advised they use suPHP and that PHP process user has 777 permissions.
Thanks again!
