    Hi there,

Quick question... I am attempting to install the latest version of Kiweecommerce on Ubuntu with Apache server but It keeps on throwing up errors about permissions. I have been changing permissions to folders and files to read and write for everyone but this worries me as when I come to transferring this to a production server I will need to chmod everything back to how it was to avoid security issues.

Does anyone have any advice on installing under Ubuntu with the whole file permissions issues? The other thing that is annoying about it is that it is very time consuming to change all of the permissions on the folders and make sure that the permissions as well have been changed in the subfolders/files

    Help would be much appriciated...

I always prefer to have php running in suexec mode; this way instead of running as the Apache user it runs as the user who is the owner of the php file (as in your ftp user). This way you don’t need to have world-writable (or even world-readable) permissions.
