[EDIT: this is modx revo, since i don’t think i clarified before]

for reasons beyond my control, i had to create a site, including content population, on my own server - and now need to port it to the production server.

i have installed a few packages, and created quite a lot of resources and elements. i do have certain elements on the site which refer to specific page id’s, so i need to make sure however i import will maintain these pks in the database.

should i do a fresh install (and install the 5-6 packages) on the new server, and then import/overwrite certain database tables? if so, which ones?

all of the files i have created have been put within directories under /assets/, so ftping my images, stylesheeds, pdfs etc will be simple pie.

in advance, thank you very much! if anyone knows of a good guide, please feel free to link me to that, and scold me for not rtfm!

I’m assuming revo because you mention packages, have a look at Provisioner http://modx.com/extras/package/provisioner
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

If you need to move whole site, why don’t you follow this: http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Moving+Your+Site+to+a+New+Server

        Simple.

i did have one package (docmanager) that i tried installing, which failed, and now i have this fragment of it in the manager. when i hover over "components", there’s an option for "docmanager_desc", which does nothing. i uninstalled the package, and removed it from the manager, but that piece still remains.

so i was wondering if a fresh install, and then manually installing the packages (would only take a minute or two) would make more sense. if i did a fresh install, and then dumped my current database into the new one, would that work? or should/could i just dump selected tables (relating to resources, templates, tvs, etc)? i did not do anything with permissions or contexts while on my server.
