I am using MODx version 0.9.6.3, and I would like to ’Add Summary’ (into text) to a Weblink. I’m not seeing the field anywhere.
Does anyone know how to do this?

A suggestion is to make use of doc [*longtitle*] / [*description*] OR sippet tpl [+longtitle+] / [+description+] instead!
In weblinks this field was removed (it is a shame since it is very useful). The workaround is to use another field or TV and then use PHx in the Ditto tpl to display the alternate field if type is weblink. It is a simple hack to activate the field but that woulud make your installation incompatible with future releases:
In manager/actions/mutate_content.dynamic.php on @ line 571 there is a else statement that turns off the summary filed for weblinks. Comments out that else and the coresponding closing } @ line 577 and you are good to go. Don’t think that anything else is required.
