I had a working system with FileDownload plugin to deliver subscription content. Now it’s broken and I don’t know why. The client is not very happy either.

The way it used to work:

==> Research page ==> click on link "X" of subscription doc ==> Unauthorized page ==> login ==> redirected to link "X"

    What I see now:

==> Research page ==> click on link "X" of subscription doc ==> Unauthorized page ==> login ==> Error page

These links "X" are pointing to the private directory for FileDownload plugin and look like this: http://www.mysite.com/subscription_only/doc.pdf. I code them this way so I can intermix subscription files and free files on the Research page.

If, however, I set up a test page with the FileDownload snippet, all of the "private" links are accessible by clicking on any of the links it generates even though the test page that contains the snippet call is set to private for subscription users only. What?! Why should that happen? I must be doing something very obvious and stupid but don’t see it.

    Any help guys and gals?

    Thanks.

      Nevermind, all--

I got too frustrated and switched to FileDownloadPE. Yeah, it has a back door but nobody will find it. And the way the documents are abstracted to the user is much better and more MODx-like.
